Things that do and don't help

Here is a list of things I have found that might help costochondritis ease a little:
  • Being fit and active (doing exercise such as yoga consistently)
  • Resting (this may seem at odds with point one, but in the short term, doing nothing helps)
  • Heat (saunas and heat packs)
  • Keeping a good posture
  • Sleeping well 
  • Cocodamol, voltarol & paracetamol (ibuprofen has no effect)
Here is a list of things that i found to make costochondritis worse:
  • Touching it (even slight contact)
  • Caffeine
  • Alcohol
  • Stress
  • Lack of sleep
  • Poor posture
  • Laughing
  • Underwired bras
  • The cold weather and generally being cold
  • Any form of impact exercise (running etc)
  • Lifting heavy objects
  • Reaching above my head
